About JEE Main 2027

Joint Entrance Examination (Main), commonly known as JEE Main, is a national-level entrance examination conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA). It is one of the major engineering entrance examinations in India and is used for admission to undergraduate engineering, architecture and planning programmes. JEE Main Paper 1 is conducted for admission to B.E. and B.Tech programmes, while Paper 2A is for B.Arch and Paper 2B is for B.Planning. JEE Main scores are used for admission to NITs, IIITs and other participating institutions through the applicable counselling process. JEE Main also serves as the qualifying examination for candidates seeking eligibility to appear in JEE Advanced, subject to the eligibility and shortlisting rules announced for that year. The official JEE Main 2027 notification and information bulletin have not yet been released. Dates, fees, eligibility conditions and other year-specific information shown on this page should therefore be treated as tentative until confirmed by NTA.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Candidates must have passed or be appearing in the Class 12 or equivalent qualifying examination, subject to the year-of-passing conditions prescribed by NTA for JEE Main 2027.
  • For B.E./B.Tech admission, candidates generally require Physics and Mathematics along with the prescribed qualifying subjects.
  • Eligibility requirements for B.Arch and B.Planning differ from B.E./B.Tech and candidates should verify the subject requirements in the official information bulletin.
  • There is generally no age limit for appearing in JEE Main; however, candidates must satisfy the age requirements, if any, of the institution to which admission is sought.
  • Admission to NITs, IIITs and other participating institutes is subject to separate eligibility and counselling rules.
  • Eligibility for appearing in JEE Advanced is governed by the rules prescribed for JEE Advanced for the corresponding year.
