Undergraduate Entrance Examination (UGEE) is an admission mode conducted directly by IIIT Hyderabad for admission to its research-oriented dual-degree programmes. UGEE is not the admission route for all undergraduate programmes at IIIT Hyderabad. The institute separately operates admission modes including JEE Main, SPEC, LEEE, Olympiad, DASA and Boards according to the programme and candidate category. Under the latest official UGEE process, candidates first appear for a three-hour computer-based examination containing two sections: SUPR, the Subject Proficiency test, for 60 minutes and REAP, the Research Aptitude test, for 120 minutes. Applicants are filtered based on SUPR performance and then ranked using REAP for interview shortlisting. Both sections carry 25 percent negative marking. Candidates shortlisted through the examination must attend an interview, and the final admission offer is based solely on interview performance.
