National Institute of Food Technology, Entrepreneurship and Management, Thanjavur (NIFTEM-T) is an Institute of National Importance under the Ministry of Food Processing Industries, Government of India. Originating from the Paddy Processing Research Centre established in 1967, the institute is a premier centre for education, research, innovation, incubation and technology development in food processing, food engineering and food safety.
| History | The institute originated as the Paddy Processing Research Centre (PPRC) in 1967. It became a national laboratory in 1972, shifted to the present Thanjavur campus in 1984, was upgraded as the Indian Institute of Crop Processing Technology (IICPT) in 2008, renamed Indian Institute of Food Processing Technology (IIFPT) in 2017 and is now National Institute of Food Technology, Entrepreneurship and Management, Thanjavur (NIFTEM-T). |
