Central Armed Police Forces Medical Officer Selection Board-2025 under the Ministry of Home Affairs has invited online applications for appointment to Group A medical posts in BSF, CRPF, ITBP, SSB and Assam Rifles. A total of 282 vacancies are notified for Super Specialist Medical Officer in the rank of Second-in-Command, Specialist Medical Officer in the rank of Deputy Commandant and Medical Officer in the rank of Assistant Commandant.

Super Specialist Medical Officer Qualification Candidate must possess MBBS or equivalent medical qualification from a recognized University or Institution, be enrolled in a State Medical Register, complete compulsory rotating internship, possess the prescribed postgraduate Degree or Diploma in the related specialty and possess DM, M.Ch or equivalent with three years experience in the concerned super-specialty after obtaining the first postgraduate degree. Senior Residency period is counted towards experience. Permanent registration with MCI, NMC or State Medical Council is required before appointment.

Age Proof Matriculation Certificate or School Leaving Certificate in support of age and date of birth.
Minimum Height – Male Relaxable by 2 cm for specified categories and regions and by 3 cm for eligible Scheduled Tribe candidates.
Medical Fitness Candidates must be declared medically fit by the designated Board of Medical Officers according to applicable Ministry of Home Affairs medical guidelines for direct recruitment in CAPFs and Assam Rifles.
Nature of Service The posts of Super Specialist Medical Officer, Specialist Medical Officer and Medical Officer are combatised posts in CAPFs and Assam Rifles.
Force Preference for Specialist Medical Officer Candidates applying for Specialist Medical Officer must indicate their order of preference among BSF, CRPF, ITBP, SSB and Assam Rifles.
PG Course Provision An officer can apply for a postgraduate entrance examination after completion of five years of regular service according to applicable instructions.

Specialist Medical Officer Qualification Candidate must possess a recognized medical qualification of the Allopathic system included in the prescribed schedules of the Indian Medical Council Act, complete compulsory rotating internship, possess permanent registration with MCI, NMC or State Medical Council before appointment, and possess PG Degree or PG Diploma in the concerned specialty. Required experience is one and a half years after PG Degree or two and a half years after PG Diploma.

Minimum Height – Female Relaxable by 2 cm for specified categories and regions and by 3 cm for eligible Scheduled Tribe candidates.
Medical Examination Result Candidates are declared either FIT or UNFIT during the Medical Examination Test.
Minimum Service Requirement Selected officers are required to serve the Force for a minimum period of 10 years.
Force Preference for Medical Officer Candidates applying for Medical Officer must indicate their order of preference among BSF, CRPF, ITBP, SSB and Assam Rifles.

Organizations Selected candidates are allotted to participating CAPFs or Assam Rifles according to the applicable selection and allotment process.
Medical Officer Qualification Candidate must possess a recognized Allopathic medical qualification, have permanent registration with MCI, NMC or State Medical Council before appointment and complete compulsory rotating internship. Candidates undergoing internship may apply and appear in the interview, but must complete the compulsory internship satisfactorily before appointment if selected.

Internship Certificate Certificate supporting completion of compulsory rotating internship or internship undergoing status where applicable.
Male Chest Minimum 77 cm unexpanded and 82 cm expanded.
Colour Vision Candidates must possess the prescribed colour vision. Candidates having colour perception below CP-III are not eligible for appointment.
Early Resignation Liability An officer seeking to resign before completing the minimum service period must refund an amount equal to three months pay and allowances or the cost of training imparted by the Force, whichever is higher.

Probation Period Every appointed candidate remains on probation for two years. The Central Government may extend the probation period by one year for recorded reasons.
Preference Modification Force preference submitted by candidates is final and requests for changes are not entertained.
Qualification Documents Candidates should upload the required qualification and medical registration documents while completing their profile details as instructed.
Pension Selected candidates are governed by the New Restructured Defined Contributory Pension Scheme applicable to new entrants to Central Government Services.
ST Candidates Scheduled Tribe candidates are exempted from payment of the application fee.
Reserved Category Certificates SC, ST, OBC Non-Creamy Layer and EWS candidates must produce valid certificates in the prescribed format.
Weight Weight must be proportionate to height and age according to the prescribed Ministry of Home Affairs height-weight standards.
LASIK Surgery LASIK correction is permitted subject to the prescribed interval, age, axial length, corneal thickness, pre-LASIK error, vision and retinal status criteria.
Private Practice Officers appointed to these posts are not permitted to undertake private practice, consultancy or laboratory practice.
Merit Basis The merit list is prepared on the basis of aggregate marks awarded in the interview.

Ex-Servicemen Eligible Ex-Servicemen candidates are exempted from payment of the application fee.

Height Relaxation – Specified Categories Applicable to Gorkhas, Garhwalis, Kumaonis, Dogras, Marathas and eligible candidates belonging to Sikkim, Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Tripura, Mizoram, Meghalaya, Assam, Himachal Pradesh, Kashmir region of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh.
Tattoo Policy Permitted tattoos include prescribed religious symbols or figures and names, subject to the specified location and size requirements.
Basic Training Selected candidates undergo basic training and other prescribed courses according to Force requirements.
Female Candidates Female candidates are exempted from payment of the application fee.

Eligibility Criteria

Qualification: MBBS or equivalent medical qualification; PG Degree/Diploma required for Specialist Medical Officer; DM/M.Ch or equivalent required for Super Specialist Medical Officer

  • Candidates selected for appointment may be posted anywhere in India or abroad according to service requirements.

  • Specialist Medical Officer applicants must possess the prescribed postgraduate qualification and required post-qualification experience.
  • Super Specialist Medical Officer applicants must possess the prescribed super-specialty qualification and required experience.

Maximum age is 50 years for Super Specialist Medical Officer, 40 years for Specialist Medical Officer and 30 years for Medical Officer. Age relaxation applies to eligible categories as per the advertisement and Government rules.

Selection Process

Original documents are verified. Candidates must bring the required original certificates along with one set of self-attested copies.

Interview

The interview tests general knowledge, knowledge in the field of academic study, personality, intellectual curiosity, judgment, alertness, social cohesion, integrity, initiative and leadership capability.

Physical Standard Test

Candidates qualifying the interview undergo Physical Standard Test. Candidates not meeting the prescribed standards are eliminated.

Medical Examination Test

Candidates qualifying Physical Standard Test undergo Medical Examination Test by the designated Medical Board.

Review Medical Examination

Candidates declared medically unfit may seek Review Medical Examination by submitting the prescribed written consent within 24 hours after being informed of their unfitness.

Final Merit List

Medical Officers Selection Board prepares merit lists on the basis of aggregate marks awarded during the interview, including separate merit lists for SC, ST, OBC Non-Creamy Layer and EWS candidates.

Salary Structure

Additional Allowances Non-Practicing Allowance, Dearness Allowance, Transport Allowance, House Rent Allowance and other admissible allowances are payable according to applicable Central Government rules.

7th CPC Pay Matrix Level 10 to Level 12 depending on post, plus Non-Practicing Allowance, Dearness Allowance, Transport Allowance, House Rent Allowance and other admissible allowances.
