Railway Recruitment Boards have issued Centralised Employment Notification CEN 03/2026 for recruitment to the post of Section Controller in Indian Railways. A total of 119 tentative vacancies have been notified. The Section Controller post is placed in Pay Level 6 of the 7th CPC Pay Matrix with an initial basic pay of Rs 35400. Candidates with a University Degree or equivalent qualification can apply subject to the prescribed eligibility conditions. The prescribed age limit is 20 to 33 years as on 01 July 2026 with applicable age relaxation. Candidates are required to satisfy the A-2 medical standard. The recruitment process includes Computer Based Test, Computer Based Aptitude Test, Document Verification and Medical Examination. Applications were invited through the RRB online application portal from 15 July 2026 to 14 August 2026.

| Fee Refund | Eligible candidates receive the applicable fee refund after appearing in the Computer Based Test. The refund is credited to the Aadhaar seeded bank account after applicable bank charges. |
| CBT Pattern | The Computer Based Test consists of 100 questions with a duration of 120 minutes. There is negative marking of 1/3 mark for every wrong answer. |
| Final Merit | Final merit among candidates who qualify the CBAT is prepared using 70 percent weightage for CBT marks and 30 percent weightage for CBAT marks. |
| PwBD Eligibility | Eligible PwBD categories may apply subject to the prescribed suitability and medical conditions. No PwBD vacancy is separately reserved for this recruitment. |
| Scribe Details | Eligible candidates requiring a scribe must provide the required scribe details through the application portal during the prescribed window. |
| One RRB Application Rule | Candidates can apply to only one RRB under CEN 03/2026. Submission of applications to more than one RRB can lead to rejection of all applications. |

Candidates are shortlisted through the Computer Based Test for the next stage of the recruitment process.
Candidates shortlisted from the CBT are called for the Computer Based Aptitude Test and must qualify the prescribed aptitude test requirements.
Shortlisted candidates are required to produce original educational qualification certificates and other required documents for verification.
Candidates must pass the prescribed A-2 medical examination conducted by the Railway Administration.
