Passage (Questions 96-100)
Urban parks are often described as the lungs of a city. Trees filter dust, lower temperatures during summer and give residents a place to exercise and relax. Studies in several countries link access to green space with lower stress and better mental health. Yet land in cities is expensive, and green areas are often the first to be sacrificed when roads or buildings are planned. Planners are therefore experimenting with rooftop gardens, vertical walls of plants and small 'pocket parks' on unused corners of land. These solutions do not replace large parks, but they can bring a little nature within walking distance of every home.

Which of the following can be inferred from the passage?

  • ALarge parks are no longer needed in any city.
  • BPocket parks are larger than traditional parks.
  • CVertical gardens have been banned in cities.
  • DRooftop gardens and pocket parks supplement, but cannot fully replace, large parks.
Correct answer: D

Explanation

The last sentence says these solutions do not replace large parks but bring some nature within walking distance of homes.
