The High Court of Delhi has invited online applications for the Senior Personal Assistant and Personal Assistant (Open) Examinations - 2026. There are 117 vacancies for Senior Personal Assistant and 33 vacancies for Personal Assistant, totalling 150 vacancies. The recruitment will also involve preparation of a panel for future vacancies. Candidates must be graduates from a recognised University and must possess the prescribed English shorthand and computer typing speeds. Selection comprises an English Typing Test, English Shorthand Test, Main Descriptive Examination and Interview.

Vacancy Notice for Senior Personal Assistant and Personal Assistant (Open) Examinations - 2026.

Online registration and fee payment begins at 11:00 hours.
Online application and fee payment closes at 23:00 hours.
Permitted application corrections can be made from 12.10.2026 at 11:00 hours to 14.10.2026 at 23:00 hours.
Typing, shorthand, main examination and interview dates will be notified separately through the Delhi High Court website.
Computer-based English typing test of 10 minutes duration. Minimum required speed is 40 words per minute. Maximum permissible mistakes are 3% of the total words typed, using the characters-with-space method. Marks are qualifying in nature and are not added to final merit.
For Senior Personal Assistant: shorthand dictation at 110 w.p.m. A 550-word passage is dictated in 5 minutes, followed by 45 minutes for transcription on computer. Maximum permissible mistakes are 5% (27.5 mistakes). Two tests are provided and the better performance is considered.
For Personal Assistant: shorthand dictation at 100 w.p.m. A 500-word passage is dictated in 5 minutes, followed by 45 minutes for transcription on computer. Maximum permissible mistakes are 5% (25 mistakes). Two tests are provided and the better performance is considered.
Four marks are deducted for each full mistake and two marks for each half mistake. A candidate exceeding the maximum permissible mistakes is disqualified from the stage.
The Main Descriptive Examination is conducted in English and carries 100 marks with a duration of 120 minutes. It consists of Essay Writing (250 words – 40 marks), Letter Writing (15 marks), Grammar & Comprehension Passage (25 marks), Translation Hindi to English (10 marks) and Translation English to Hindi (10 marks).
General category candidates require 50 marks out of 100. Reserved category and PwBD candidates require 45 marks out of 100, subject to the conditions in the vacancy notice.
The interview carries a maximum of 15 marks. No minimum qualifying marks are prescribed for the interview.
Final merit is prepared by adding the marks obtained in the English Shorthand Test, Main Descriptive Examination and Interview. The Stage I typing test is qualifying only and its marks are not added to final merit.
In case of equal aggregate marks, preference is given in the following order: higher marks in Stage II Shorthand, higher marks in Stage III Main Descriptive Examination, higher marks in Stage IV Interview, and then the older candidate by date of birth.
