B.E./B.Tech. or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering with 5 years experience in two-phase/multiphase flow research and experimental testing OR M.E./M.Tech. or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering with 3 years experience in two-phase/multiphase flow research and experimental testing.

B.E./B.Tech. or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering with 5 years experience in Computational Fluid Dynamics in Thermal and Fluids Engineering OR M.E./M.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering with specialization in Thermal & Fluid Engineering or Fluid Mechanics & Thermal Engineering and 3 years experience in CFD in Thermal and Fluid Engineering.

B.E./B.Tech. or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering with 5 years experience in design and testing of valves OR M.E./M.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering with specialization in Thermal & Fluids Engineering or Fluid Mechanics & Thermal Engineering and 3 years experience in design and testing of valves.

B.E./B.Tech. or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering with 5 years relevant experience in fluid flow research OR M.E./M.Tech. or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering with 3 years relevant experience. Desirable qualification: Ph.D. Research experience should preferably involve fluid flow measurement/engineering, experimental testing, characterization and validation studies. Experience in CFD, FEA or multiphysics involving hydraulic turbines, pumps, valves or flowmeters is desirable.

Candidates must upload certificates and marksheets supporting Class X, Class XII where applicable, B.E./B.Tech., M.E./M.Tech. where applicable and other prescribed educational qualifications.

Research Engineer applicants must submit the prescribed experience certificate from the employer. Applications without the prescribed experience certificate will not be entertained.

For Research Engineer post codes RE-ME-MPF-001 and RE-ME-FFR-004, research experience must be evidenced by publications in peer-reviewed journals of repute, particularly after the last qualifying B.E. or M.Tech. degree as applicable.

Candidates awaiting final JRE results may apply, but must upload the final marksheet and degree certificate by 31 August 2026. Failure to do so, or failure to meet the minimum qualifying marks, will result in automatic cancellation of candidature.

For the Mechanical JRE posts: UR 30 years, OBC 33 years and SC/ST 35 years. For the Civil JRE post, UR/EWS is 30 years and SC is 35 years. The Electrical and Instrumentation JRE posts follow the age limits stated against their respective categories in the notification.

Rs. 1,180 per post, consisting of Rs. 1,000 application fee plus applicable 18% GST. Payment is through the online payment gateway only.

No application fee is payable by Women, SC, ST and PwBD category candidates.

Each candidate must submit only one application form through the application portal and should select only the post for which the candidate is eligible. Multiple application forms from one candidate will result in rejection of candidature.

Up to 5 years age relaxation is available to regular employees of Government, Central Autonomous Bodies and Public Sector Undertakings, subject to the conditions prescribed in the notification.

Online applications are screened on the basis of educational qualifications, experience where applicable, age and payment of the applicable application fee. Provisionally qualified candidates are published on the FCRI website.

Shortlisted JRE candidates appear for an online MCQ examination at test centres in Coimbatore and/or Kochi. The examination has 100 questions, 400 maximum marks and 120 minutes duration. Four marks are awarded for each correct answer, one mark is deducted for each incorrect answer and no marks are awarded for unattempted questions. The paper is bilingual in Hindi and English.

Shortlisted candidates must produce original documents relating to age, identity, qualification, marks, experience and reservation category. Government/Autonomous Body/Research Institute/PSU employees must produce the required NOC, vigilance clearance, penalty details and APAR documents where applicable.

Provisionally shortlisted candidates are called for personal interview after completion of document verification. Research Engineer selection is based on interview, although FCRI may include additional assessment stages if required. JRE final ranking is based on written test and interview with 80:20 weightage.

Selected candidates must undergo medical examination and verification of character and antecedents. Appointment will be offered only to candidates found medically fit and otherwise suitable.

No travelling allowance or daily allowance is payable for attending the written test or interview.

Basic Pay: Rs. 56,100 - Rs. 1,77,500. Minimum gross pay is approximately Rs. 1,01,130 per month.

Basic Pay: Rs. 47,600 - Rs. 1,51,100. Minimum gross pay is approximately Rs. 83,800 per month.

Employees are entitled to NPS, gratuity, medical reimbursement, travelling allowance/daily allowance on tours, leave benefits and applicable allowances including DA, HRA and Transport Allowance.
