The Department of Posts has announced Gramin Dak Sevak Online Engagement Schedule-II, July-2026 for tentative vacancies of Branch Postmaster (BPM), Assistant Branch Postmaster (ABPM) and Dak Sevak in postal circles and divisions across India. A total of 23,757 tentative vacancies are available. Service Nature Gramin Dak Sevaks are holders of Civil Posts outside the regular Civil Services and their service conditions are governed by the applicable GDS Conduct and Engagement Rules.
Educational Qualification Candidate must possess a Secondary School Examination pass certificate of Class 10 from a recognized Board.
Mathematics and English Candidates must have passing marks in Mathematics and English in the Secondary School Examination of Class 10.
Local Language Requirement The candidate must have studied the prescribed local language for the concerned post at least up to the 10th standard from a recognized Board.
Knowledge of Computer Candidates must possess knowledge of computers as prescribed for GDS engagement.
Knowledge of Cycling Candidates must possess knowledge of cycling as prescribed under the GDS eligibility conditions.
Adequate Means of Livelihood Candidates must satisfy the prescribed requirement relating to adequate means of livelihood.
Minimum Age The minimum age for applying is 18 years.
Maximum Age The maximum age for applying is 40 years, subject to applicable age relaxation.
SC/ST Age Relaxation Eligible SC and ST candidates receive upper age relaxation of 5 years.
OBC Age Relaxation Eligible OBC candidates receive upper age relaxation of 3 years.
PwBD Age Relaxation PwBD candidates receive prescribed upper age relaxation depending upon their category: 10 years for PwBD, 13 years for PwBD plus OBC and 15 years for PwBD plus SC/ST.
EWS Age Relaxation No separate upper age relaxation is prescribed for EWS candidates.
Application Fee An application fee of Rs. 100 is applicable for posts selected in the candidate choice of Division.
Fee Exemption All female applicants, SC applicants, ST applicants, PwBD applicants and Transwomen applicants are exempted from payment of the application fee.
Fee Payment Mode Applicable candidates can pay through the prescribed online modes including Credit Card, Debit Card, Net Banking and UPI facilities.
Branch Postmaster Job Profile BPMs are responsible for day-to-day Branch Post Office operations, applicable IPPB activities, customer service operations, marketing and other duties assigned by the Department.
BPM Accommodation Requirement A candidate selected as BPM is required to arrange suitable accommodation for running the Branch Post Office at their own cost as prescribed.
ABPM Job Profile ABPM duties include sale of stamps and stationery, mail conveyance and delivery, IPPB transactions and other postal duties assigned by the Department.
Dak Sevak Job Profile Dak Sevaks perform delivery and postal operations, sale of stamps and stationery, mail handling and other work assigned by the competent postal authorities.

Eligibility Criteria

Qualification: Secondary School Examination (10th Class) pass with passing marks in Mathematics and English from a recognized Board, along with the prescribed local language studied up to 10th standard.

Upper age relaxation: SC/ST 5 years, OBC 3 years, PwBD 10 years, PwBD plus OBC 13 years and PwBD plus SC/ST 15 years. No upper age relaxation is available for EWS candidates under the prescribed rules.

Selection Process

System Generated Merit List

Candidates are shortlisted through a system-generated merit list based on marks obtained in the Secondary School Examination of Class 10.

Merit Calculation

The merit list is prepared using marks obtained or the prescribed conversion of grades or points in the Secondary School Examination, aggregated to percentage accuracy as prescribed.

Physical Document Verification

Shortlisted candidates must attend physical verification with original documents and required self-attested copies as applicable.

Pre-Engagement Formalities

Candidates whose documents are successfully verified must complete the prescribed pre-engagement and joining formalities.

Final Engagement

Final engagement is subject to completion of the prescribed verification and engagement procedures.

Salary Structure
