Essential Qualification Route 1 Master Degree in Law (LLM) from a recognized University or equivalent and ten years experience in imparting training or teaching or research in legal affairs in administration or in Judicial Services, or ten years practical experience at the Bar as an Advocate, of which three years should be in a High Court as a Senior Advocate.
Essential Qualification Route 2 Degree in Law (LLB) from a recognized University or equivalent and twelve years experience in a State Judicial Service, of which five years should be at the level of Additional District Judge and Sessions Judge or above; OR twelve years practical experience at the Bar, of which five years should be in a High Court as a Senior Advocate.
Desirable Qualification Experience as District and Sessions Judge.
Desirable Qualification Doctorate Degree in Law from a recognized University or equivalent.

Qualification Relaxation Experience qualifications may be relaxed at the discretion of the Union Public Service Commission for candidates who are otherwise well qualified. A specific relaxation provision is also stated for SC/ST candidates where sufficient candidates possessing the requisite experience are not likely to be available.
Deputation Pay Pay and other terms of deputation will be regulated under the provisions contained in DoPT O.M. No. 6/8/2009-Estt.(Pay-II) dated 17 June 2010, as amended from time to time.
Period of Deputation / Contract The period of deputation or contract, including any period of deputation or contract in another ex-cadre post held immediately preceding this appointment in the same or another Central Government organization/department, shall ordinarily not exceed four years.
APAR Dossiers Photocopies of the APAR dossiers of the candidate for the last five years, duly attested on each page by a Gazetted Officer, are required. Original ACR/APAR dossiers should not be sent.
Cadre Clearance Certificate of Cadre Clearance must accompany the application.
Vigilance Clearance Certificate of Vigilance Clearance must accompany the application.
Integrity Certificate Certificate of Integrity must accompany the application.
