Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC) has issued Advertisement No. D-1/E-1/2026 dated 18 August 2026 for recruitment to Professor and Assistant Professor posts in the Medical Education Department, Uttar Pradesh (Allopathy). The recruitment covers general as well as special recruitment vacancies across numerous medical, dental, super-specialty and allied disciplines. The notification provides 44 Professor vacancies in Group-A Gazetted posts at Pay Level-14 and 1,112 general Assistant Professor vacancies at Pay Level-11, along with 9 special-recruitment Professor vacancies and 71 special-recruitment Assistant Professor vacancies listed in the notification, making 1,236 vacancies represented in this recruitment. Professor age is 35 to 55 years, while Assistant Professor age is 26 to 40 years, subject to applicable relaxation. The essential qualification, teaching experience and research requirements vary by specialty. Professor eligibility generally requires the prescribed postgraduate/super-specialty qualification, three years Associate Professor experience and prescribed research publications/courses. Assistant Professor eligibility generally requires the prescribed postgraduate qualification and one year Senior Resident experience or an applicable alternative route. The Commission may conduct a Screening Examination under the UPPSC Direct Recruitment through Screening Examination Regulations, 2025. Where a screening examination is held, candidates qualifying it may be called for interview and final merit is determined using 75% screening-test marks and 25% interview marks. Objective screening examination carries one-third negative marking for a wrong answer. Online applications commence on 18 August 2026. Under the UPPSC Direct Recruitment through Screening Examination Regulations, 2025, the Commission may conduct an objective Screening Examination to shortlist candidates for interview.
Where a screening examination is conducted, one-third (0.33) of the marks assigned to a question is deducted for an incorrect answer. More than one answer is also treated as wrong. No penalty is imposed for an unanswered question.
Candidates qualifying the screening examination, where conducted, may be called for interview according to the standard fixed by the Commission.
Where a Screening Examination is held, final merit is determined by adding 75% marks of the Screening Examination and 25% marks of the Interview.
Candidates must produce original certificates and supporting documents when required. Failure to provide required documents within the prescribed period can result in cancellation of candidature.
